Changing no altering games again

So, we are still playing Warhammer but I am not, nor ever been, a fan of the magic system. For many years now I have been tempted to combine C&S with Warhammer, as in my mind there is some common ground. More importantly, I have always liked the C&S magick system but found the skill rules and character 'classes' somewhat lacking. But now, add to that, there is the Arcanum game system that I also was aiming to combine with C&S, again the magick systems seem compatible.

So the plan is to combine all three systems together, madness!

So, I am tossing out almost all of the Warhammer magic except for petty magic and lesser magick. I am combining the mage types from C&S and Arcanum into one list (they actually blend quite well) The magick spell categories in Arcanum will be kept, with the C&S categories used as separate spell lists with the spell caster restriction kept in place. I had thought of combining Command and Illusion spells into the various spell types in Arcanum, but in the end it was not worth the effort. So mages will have access to one or more spell Arcanum spell types (depending on mage type) but they will also have access to command, illusion, basic magick et al.

I am keeping PMF and magick level, incorporating them into the largely leveless Warhammer system.  PMF will be treated like a skill with advances that can be taken as the mage progresses through mage type careers. I have added some new higher mage careers. I am also changing the way Mages gain experience, more in line with C&S, gain experience through research and spell learning.

In many ways I am actually change C&S character types and combat to Warhammer rather than the other way around. (a matter of perspective)
