Changing games, again

So, we are moving on from Talisman. I think we gave it a good try, it just never really gelled with us. As one player said, it feels like it was incomplete. It certainly had some gaps and while it certainly lived up to its source material it just lacked something. For me, as GM, it felt restrictive, having to rely on the players failures to be able to activate special features.  Sort of compound misery onto misery.

I did like certain aspects of the game, how followers work, some of the special locations, stuff like that, but it did not have any legs. I had planned to run a short campaign as the rules feel like they would work for a short time but in the end it jus lacked something.

So, now we are shifting to Warhammer Fantasy RPG, a game near and dear to me. The players will start with two careers under their belt and a few advances into their third which should help them survive a little longer. The setting is The City State of the Invincible Overlord which was the first campaign world I ever ran. A few years back I redrew my own world maps to incorporate the 18 Judges Guild maps, along with some other fantasy worlds.

It certainly won't be an easy conversion but the plotline that I am planning will involve certain creatures that WHFRPG do very well. For the citizens of the City state, for the most part I will just wing it. For more major characters, well, I have already started stating them on Roll20.
